Looking for a romantic restaurant in Zurich to celebrate your anniversary with your significant other? Better check out this restaurant or this Italian gem. Looking for a quick and satisfying bite before a bar tour or a clubbing night? Great! This post is for you.
My last try for Mexican food was rather disappointing (see here), thus I was a bit cautious this time. To ensure consistent test conditions 😀 I brought the same friend with me. The real reason is that she also has a weakness for great Mexican street food. Anyway, we went there on a Friday night and – surprisingly – the place was not crowded. I mean good for us that there was no wait, but for the business, I hope it will become more busy during the evenings soon. At least for the lunch business, they can probably not complain as as they are located in front of the KV Business School and I assume they are being run over by all these hungry, adolescent students every weekday.
The menu is easy to read and fits on one billboard:
You get either tacos, burritos or quesadillas, choose the filling (chicken, beef, pork, vegetables, or frijoles) and then topping(s) and sauce. We opted for tacos (just as we had at el Luchador). I chose beef, pork and frijoles, while me friend had a chicken taco and two with vegetables. As topping I had pico de gallo and guacamole on all of them with salsa verde (that is the one that is not spicy, but still yummy).
And what can I tell you? Each taco was flavorful and three of them (for CHF 15) left us full and happy. The beef and the pork were by itself already flavorful and juicy and the frijoles refritos (fried been mousse) did get their edge from being topped with feta cheese. I also tried the taco with chicken and that was not less tasty or juicy. All in all, it was a pleasable although quick restaurant visit. I’m glad to have found an alternative to the Cartel Crazy Burrito Shack for the evenings, as they close already at 9pm and this venue is better located if you are planning to spend the night in the Industriequartier. And last but not least, the staff is really kind and laid back, you can pay after having eaten, so you don’t get rushed. I for one will return!
